CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS: How to Activate the Potential of Emotions in Project-Based Learning?

The project-based learning (PBL) approach is a dynamic educational model that places students/learners at the center of their learning, engaging them in concrete, interdisciplinary projects.

But how can emotions—desire, joy, fear, motivation, frustration, satisfaction, pride, and even empathy—enrich this approach?

To foster educational innovations that place emotion at the core of learning processes, this call for contributions aims to explore how considering emotions can enhance engagement, knowledge retention, and learner satisfaction within the framework of Project-based learning.

On the occasion of the 13th Annual International Conference on Inclusive Education and Project-Based Pedagogy for Peace and Sustainable Development

As part of the 18th Geneva Forum, this annual conference offers a high-level interactive workshop to be held on Thursday, December 10, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM in Geneva, gathering key actors to discuss new forms that education and pedagogy might take. This event is organized in partnership with the Geneva Forum and the NGO Objectif Sciences International.

Call for Contributions

We invite:
– teachers, and professors,
– academic institutions,
– curriculum groups and sector actors,
– facilitators, trainers...
– researchers,
to actively contribute to the reflection on Project-Based Pedagogy as a leverage axis to achieve inclusive education.

Submit your projects!

We invite contributors to submit ideas, research, practices, or projects that explore pathways to:
– Intentionally and constructively integrate emotions into learning projects.
– Propose methodologies and tools to assess or stimulate emotional impact in Project-based-learning.
– Provide concrete strategies for managing emotions within projects so they become catalysts for learning.

Selected contributions will be presented during conferences, workshops, and discussions at the event, assessed for their potential to transform pedagogical approaches to Project-based-learning. They may also be eligible for in-depth discussions aimed at potential collaborations or funding.

This workshop is part of the Conference Series on Education and Project Pedagogy and aims to provide the educational community with solutions, methods, and educational formats integrating emotions in Project-Based Learning. The goal is to foster innovative approaches using the power of emotions to enrich learning, enhance learner engagement, and deepen their understanding.

Through collaborative dynamics and exchanges between experts in education, psychology, and cognitive sciences, we will reflect on optimizing emotional impact to improve learning project outcomes. The workshop will explore how emotions can become positive levers, fostering not only academic success but also the socio-emotional development of learners.

To initiate this reflection, we will first give the floor to 10 professionals from various fields, each with 5 minutes to present their views and practices during the workshop’s first hour. Participants will receive information on the speakers and their work in advance. These short interventions will focus on best practices for integrating emotions into Project-Based Learning, based on pedagogical effectiveness, learning impact, emotional impact, and socio-emotional skill development.
